Prednisone reviews.

They touch on two important topics, the emotional effects of the medication and the emotional effect of dealing with a chronic condition. Unfortunately, for many of us, there is no such end in sight. It's overall very helpful when you first start Prednisone or only need it for a temporary time ab 1 yr or less? Side effects. Like Eugenia, I always want to do and deal with everything myself. I now have AVN advanced varascular nercrosis cushings syndrome and many other health problems.

I got prescribed prednisone 5mg for 6 days because of bronchitis. I started out with 6 pills and they gradually went down to wean you off. The directions were very clear on the packaging and I followed them closely. The day before yesterday was my last pill. Yesterday I woke up feeling like I got ran over by a truck. Body aches, sweating, immense pressure behind my eyes, nausea, dizziness, depression I knew something was wrong so I went online and read all of the side effects of this drug and there they were.

I was on a very mild dose and it made me feel this bad. I knew I needed to get it out of my system so I took magnesium citrate a laxative and drank mass amounts of water and green tea.

I emptied my system and almost immediately felt better. My husband was taking this for 5 days to treat shingles. While on it he was uncontrollably hungry gained 5 pounds while on it , he was unable to focus on work and was insanely irritable and got extremely aggressive and suicidal near the end of his dose. This drug has completely ruined both of our lives due to the agression that it caused. He went from being the sweetest man who never hit anyone or been arrested to a man I couldn't recognize who broke my nose and now has felony domestic abuse charges against him because of this nasty drug.

Was prescribed 6 a day think that is 30 mg along with antibiotics.. I have a vile headache feel sick shivery then sweating rapid heartbeat and really panicky.. I was put on 40mg prednisone a day for 8 days sudden swelling and painful Rash. I suffered sleep problems, more itching, irregularitiy, and overall stress did NOT improve 3 days after finishing this course, I had to go to the hospital.

Doctor knows i have GAD and battled with anxiety my whole life. Took it without doing research, i took it once 40mg. It was horrific. I had the worst panic attacks of my life for hours on end. I thought i had lost my mind, i thought i was going to die. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. My chest is still very bad but i will take that over the anxiety any day. I cannot stress enough how bad this was. Be very careful with this drug. I cant believe my doctor prescribed me these I just hope no one else has to go through what i did.

That was 5 days ago and i am still anxious now. Made my mouth and throat numb plus shaking. I only took this drug for two days I called my doctor and told her my mouth felt numb, she said long as I could breathe I should be fine and to stop taking the steroid immediately. My heart was racing and stayed up all night my muscle were heavy too all of this in just two days on 10 mg, I was on this for pneumonia right now I'm only taking an antibiotic and now I can feel my throat and mouth again after quiting this drug.

If I kept on taking it I have no idea what would've happened. I began takin Prednisone pack on Tuesday. It is now Friday and my dosage deceases each day. So far my only symptoms are a mild headache and trouble sleeping. It has helped with the inflammation.

It might be helping but I have been feeling like crap. A thousand mood swings, my face has a bunch of hair along with my neck. I look fat and puffy. My bones hurt and I have zero motivation. I am just so stagnant all I wanna do is sleep an deal with nothing. I been on it for around 5 months.

Just wanted to be over. Worst drug I have ever taken in my life. Had an issue with my breathing due to chemical exposure I have asthma normally. Too 60MG for 3 days then down to 40MG for two more days. Never in my life have I felt so panicked and full of anxiety. I was a complete wreck and couldn't do anything. I had horrible sleep patterns with racing heart issues and non-stop sweating, even had some blood sugar issues since I was prediabetic beforehand.

I felt like I was going to pass out almost all of the time. I wouldn't wish it on anyone and would rather deal with my illnesses than this drug. I had a very bad allergic reaction to a bite not sure what it was and my entire arm was inflamed, hot, swollen. Put on 50mg for 3 days Amazing results!

Completely transformed my arm Side effects Starving and craving sweet food I was taking 20 mg per day. After my prescribed duration, I experienced withdrawal symptoms such as fatigue, irregular heartbeat feeling pounding and rapid , trouble sleeping, dry mouth and eyes, indigestion feeling, gastritis gnawling feeling , rage rushing to cook food and eat , increased appetite, hyperness, mood swings, severe anxiety and depression.

It is currently December, I am still experiencing symptoms such as dry mouth, puffy eyes, indigestion feeling but have slow bowel movements, gastritis, rapid heartbeat, trouble sleeping, depression and anxiety.

I recently started experiencing upper abdominal discomfort feeling in chest and back. Hopefully, this is just gas. If I had a do over, I regret taking this medication. This drug disrupts my excitement of life in many ways. I pray that others and I feel better soon. I researched online that Predisone withdrawal can last from several weeks to 12 months. This period depends on how long you was taking the drug and the dosage.

Prayer helps me. The side effect that I experienced was acute anxiety. Depression with suicidal thoughts. Unable to relax , insomnia, unable to sleep more than 3 hours a night and having to work And ravenously hungry day and night. Crying in public. Told G. Still crying at the drop of a hat. I have taken this prednisone for Ulcerative colitis. While it helps with the disease the side effects are horrendous.

I will never go near this again even with the worst flare-up of UC. There is nor respite to it. I cannot function at all on this. I am worried about driving as I can not concentrate on anything. I feel so sick all the time. Not sure if I want to eat or not. My heart is hammering way too fast. I cannot work. I am taking myself off this much quicker than my doctor prescribed and I don't care how bad it gets I will never touch it again.

Had a severe, severe cold for over a week and a half. Went to the walk in clinic and was given a standard anti biotic with a 5 day prescription of 40mg a day of Prednisone. On day 3 and i was itching all day, skin was running hot, and sweating like a pig, got terrible sleep the night before. My cold symptoms are gone but now i feel weird and itchy and ticked off. Just need clarification. Took for knee pain and it worked well.

But I seemed to get a little dizziness and weird things with my eyes. Plus it may have caused me to get pancreatitis. I only took for 4 days. I wish I could continue to take it because it did work. He put me on a high dose for 3 years, I had no idea at the time the long term damaging effects it would have later in my life. I now have AVN advanced varascular nercrosis cushings syndrome and many other health problems. Now at 46 I have had my replaced, my ankles fused, and half a lung removed due to a carcanoid tumour all due to this so called wonder drug.

Terms of Service required I have read and agreed to the EverydayHealth. Rated for Immunosuppression Report Prednisone works well for me short-term. Rated for Asthma -- Maintenance Report I took this drug for 4 days. To me, this steroid is pure poison and should not be used at such high doses and for a long period of time.

The ongoing side effects this is causing me far outweigh it may have done if administered at a much lower dose. Please query why you may be prescribed it. Prednisolone 18 reviews. Write a review. Average ratings. Showing reviews for the last 12 months, Show all reviews. Prednisolone Person 1 5 0.

The quack at the ER gave me 3 prednisone pills 60 mg and a pepcid. I was fine and the swelling in my lips went down The soles of my feet, my arms, legs, back, face, scalp burn! I couldn't go anywhere because my family was out of town and I was pet sitting.

I waited to see my allergist this week and he gave me cortisone for my red blotches and told me to use scalpacin, he said sometimes steroids can actually make you worse. My heart was pounding and my chest and back feel weird. I feel very tired and weak after that 60 mg dose in the hospital. It caused me to have a yeast infection too, it's just an awful drug. Stay away from prednisone I am miserable and I don't know what to do anymore besides wait for the effects to wear off.

Prednisone works well for me short-term. Although I understand everyone's experience varies, I want to caution patients who read these reviews that may seem extreme. Plenty of predisposing factors for mental and physical health as well as your race, gender, diet, and medications influence your experience.

Talk to your doctor, who understands medicine more than consumers, and report any unwanted symptoms during treatment. I took this drug for 4 days. I had an anxiety attack. Couldn't talk to my doctor or any doctor cause of covid. It's been 2 months still feeling a little anxiety. But better. I dont recommend this drug. I wonder how long it will take for this to go away. Was prescribed to take for 6 days. The first day to take 6 pills at 10 mg each.

Was prescribed short term for poison ivy. By the 4th day I was completely suicidal. My anxiety was thru the roof. I had extreme panic and mania. Had I not had an Ativan on hand to take I would have admitted myself to the psychiatric unit.

Beware of this drug. It will rip away your sanity and mental health to the point where you think you've gone mad. I never want to feel that way again. It was terrifying. I've been jittery and shaky ever since and feeling like I can't breathe although I can. I'm wanting to cry and I'm anxious as I can be. I didn't take day 3. I will deal with the poison ivy on my own. It's not worth feeling like you're not only insane but that you could fall over at any minute. I have severe anxiety and panic disorder.

I never should have taken this awful medication. Well I am tappering off 50 mg for 10 days of prednisone followed by 15 days of tapering 5mg every 2'nd day then a week hold at 10 mg per day; now I am tapering 2.

While on 50 mg I slept maybe 20 hours over 10 days and at one point went 4 days straight with no sleep. Finally got Lorazepam to help sleep which I took about 12 times had to double dose this a couple times for it work plus melatonin. On the high dose of Prednisone I got severe adrenalin rushes when I tried to fall asleep- your are just about asleep then bam its like someone throwing you off a highrise. Also gave me incredible rage and hateful feelings; it caused stomach upset and GERD and esophageal spasms, heart arrhythmia and severe anxiety.

But it may have slightly improved my wheezing and shortness of breath at the 50 mg dose. Doctors are pretty much unable to do much about inflamation except prescribe steroids which honestly I found did not really help me much.

I suggest that you try a different steroid if possible. I think I have taken this in the past but in lower dosage with no issues. This last time though I took 40MG and 8 hours later my heart was pounding out of me Chest. It was beyond freighting. After 20 mins I had to call for an ambulance and they stated my blood pressure was through the roof, but my heart EKG was fine.

I do suffer from slight anxiety so this triggered it pretty bad. I think I tolerated 20mg fine last time if I remember correctly but this 40MG dose really messed me up.

Talk to your dr before if you suffer from anxiety and have a plan in place just in case. I have a love hate relationship with this drug. I normally burst into tears when I'm told I need to take it because the side effects are so bad, but it does help get me breathing when I'm really bad with my asthma. The only way I counteract the rage that it brings is valium. Once I found out the valium helps force my body to rest and recover and settles my mind it made me not so terrified.

I only take the valium when I have to take the steroids. I also take a strong antacid as I had horrific oesophageal spasm once apparently its a similar pain to a heart attack. You'll most likely get fat and miserable on steroids, but at least you'll be able to breathe. I'm aggressively athletic because I aim to be fit in case I go down. Switched to a new asthma drug so thankfully have had far fewer hits of Pred.

What a game changer. Gout attacks went from a month or more of pain to just 3 days. When finished with radiation therapy, i had a gout attack. What it did temporarily for my recovery from the radiation therapy was amazing.

Once off it, fell right back to pain and fatigue if sleeping 20 hours a day. It also does weaken your immune system and in the world of Covid, no one really wants to issue just to see if it will help again. As I recover at 14 hours of sleep a day now, I do sort of miss the feeling of feeling healthy when on it.

Just one person's experiences. Basically its a rare kidney disease where you cant filter out protein in your urine and have major scarring on the kidneys. I was prescribed this for only a month 20 mgs a day and it was the worst experience of my life! I gained so much weight and now that i'm off it i have terrible stretch marks all over my body and prednisone has ruined my confidence.

It made me depressed and have more anxiety while on it and overall i hated this. Please never take it if you have the option. Here's how extreme the side effects were for me. I took 4 days, 60mg a day for poison ivy. Taking melatonin and advil hasn't done anything. I also feel my heart pounding through my chest and it's starting to drive me insane.

Stay away from this stuff!!!!! Within the 5th day my anxiety started and I had trouble sleeping. I also noticed I have dry mouth, hot flash, and I felt a cramp on my feet. I regret not reading reviews of this medication. If you suffer from anxiety, this medication can trigger it. All these side effects comes in waves.

I took it for three days for my Arthritis and I had a terrible day of anxiety on the third day, which was Easter Sunday, not nice, thought I was going mad, I suffer mild anxiety but this was quite bad. It's an effective anti-inflammatory drug but it's almost guaranteed that there will be side effects, especially when you first start taking it I have a feeling a lot of people writing these reviews are exaggerating their side effects, or maybe confusing the physical symptoms of their underlying disorder as side effects of the drug.

Yes, the side effects can be uncomfortable but they tend to wear off after a few weeks - your body will take some time to adjust and this is normal with any medication. If they don't, talk to your doctor to adjust the dosage or try something else.

So far, no issues with withdrawal and my body is starting to feel more relaxed, and the underlying inflammation hasn't come back. This is a serious drug so use with caution and follow your doctor's advice. Chances are it will help reduce any inflammatory issues you might have. Good luck. I have to take many rounds of prednisone due my major flair ups with poison ivy.

I suffer from anxiety. Once I am on it I do not stop all day cleaning or working outside again. I feel invincible. I get really sleepy.

This medication was given to me by the Oncology doctors at the Cancer Unit who were trating me for lung cancer. I completed my cancer treatment course Immunotherapy , but several weeks after this, I developed 'gastric' problems for which this medication was given, at a very high dose.

It made me feel even worse, each time I was told by Oncology to reduce the dose, the original symptoms returned. It should NOT be given to anyone with a history of depression, which I have.

It has caused me nothing but constant gastric problems and contributed to increased, ongoing issues with my depression. I feel both betrayed and angry that due to the lack of medical checks by the doctors before putting me on this steroid, which has now caused further damage by affecting my Adrenal gland. To me, this steroid is pure poison and should not be used at such high doses and for a long period of time.

The ongoing side effects this is causing me far outweigh it may have done if administered at a much lower dose. Please query why you may be prescribed it. Prednisolone 18 reviews. Write a review.
